Guinea Pig House Hide

  • These lovely Hand Crafted Hideaways are made at Hop Inn in the UK.
  • These are ideal for 1-2 Guinea Pigs.
  • Each Hideaway arrives READY MADE and is built using FSC 9mm Hardwood..
  • All edges, corners and both entrances have been rounded over – no sharp edges or splinters.
  • Each Hideaway is coated in a weather proofing Pet Friendly stain.  As such, they are great for either indoor or outdoor use.
  • Each Hideout is screwed together with STRONG plastic connectors and built to last, no nails or glue.
  • We’ve used them every day at our Hop Inn Rabbit and Guinea Pig Retreat, we are thrilled to bits with them – we hope you are too.
  • Your Guinea Pigs can also climb on top of the box and use it as a watchtower.
  • The cardboard box it arrives in makes a great toy as well – even if it doesn’t last.
  • 40cm long x 20cm wide x 18.5cm high (approx 16″ long x 8″ wide x 7.25″ high).
  • Shades may vary slightly due to the base colour of the wood.

Guinea Pig Shelter

Bespoke handmade fabulous hideout.

Screwed together not glued & comes ready made.

2 Pet friendly stains for indoor and outdoor use, water resistant.

16" length x 8" deep x 7" high. Entrance Arches at the front and side.

or (depending on your age!)

40 cm length x 20 cm deep x 17.5 cm high.

We use these lovely Shelters inside their hutches and outside in their runs too.  We have all sorts of different shapes and sizes of hutches and they fit in them all!  They make great shelters and we find them better than plastic as plastic is cold in the winter and too hot in the summer.  They do not have a bottom to them so guineas can carry on eating as they take cover.  They are also great if they just fancy a snooze.

I bought this for Bear as he has periodic paralysis in his back legs so I wanted something that was flat at the bottom and easy for him to move through. I contacted Lisa, the owner of Hop Inn and asked if she could make me one with an extra opening at the end so it creates a tunnel. I was concerned that Bear would struggle to go in the front and turn the corner when he sometimes drags one or both back legs. Lisa was lovely and said she would make this for us. She immediately made what I'd asked for, sent me pictures to make sure it was what I wanted, and dispatched it the same day. The following day, I received the tunnel/hidey and Bear loved it - so of course, I'm a happy guineamama. What I loved - other than the fantastic customer service - is that there was no strong smell to the wood as I've had with some other houses I've bought for Bear and it's really well made. Bear loves to watch me during the day, so lazing on his vetbed, under his GuineaDad liner pocket, half in his tunnel, eating hay and snacks while watching me through the front opening is bliss for him. Not that he's spoilt of course! The size is perfect, even for a rather large piggy but I would definitely say that it's only suitable for one adult piggy but there should always be one house per piggy anyway so they don't bicker over houses. The archways are a good size and easy for even porky piggies to pass through without them having to squeeze in. Bear is alone due to health issues so just the one of these houses is great for him. When Bear gets too warm under the liner pocket, he will often be found flubbed out under his house but he also loves to just rumble and wheek his way through it using it as a tunnel, emerging into his fleece forest where he shrieks with happiness and it's so nice to see the pleasure he gets from his house. I would highly recommend this house/hidey and the company that makes them. I love that they are made in England so it's good to be able to support a home-grown business. Oh, and not that Bear really cares, but the sage colour is really nice and his hooman likes it a lot.
