Summer and Sticky Bottoms
Now I have a blog I am delighted I will be able to passed on helpful tips to Rabbit Owners. Some of the obvious rabbit care problems pop up on a regular basis so I have decided to address these 1st.
AN EASY WAY TO CLEAN YOUR RABBIT AND HELP PREVENT FLY STRIKE
With Summer round the corner many owners have the Sticky Bum problem and the worry of Fly Strike. The best way to sort this out is to buy unscented baby wipes and clean area with this. Do not tug at fur but feel your way between the fur and skin and have patience in removing any mess. Gentle pat off any excess moisture with kitchen towel and then apply half teaspoon size of Sudocream which you can buy from the chemist. The Sudocream is excellent and preventing and curing sore areas caused by the urine and the rubbing. I believe its the zinc in the cream which is a main healer which is perfectly safe for your rabbit. The Sudocream is also a fantastic preventative from Fly Strike. I have used this method for years and it was a great tip given to me by our local Rabbit Rescue home Honneybunnies in leicestershire – Thank you Jill.
WHY DOES MY RABBIT HAVE THIS PROBLEM?
It could be one of two reason:
OVERWEIGHT – If your Rabbit is overweight it will not be able to clean itself properly. The more natural the food the healthier they will be. We will have plenty of lush green grass soon, Milk Thistles, Dandelions, Clover, Sticky Bud & much more. If you do not live in a City this is the best food and it’s FREE! You can give your rabbit a little dried food but bulk it up with natures best.
TEETH – Sometimes a sticky bottom could mean teeth problems. I have seen so many rabbits with teeth problems it’s sad. I would recommend a visit to your Rabbit Vet to have a check of the teeth. Rabbits are experts at hiding pain. It’s in their genetic make-up. Not only will you help your Rabbit it may save you costly bills in the long term
